A surface treatment of paper (testliner) and corrugated board is applied with the developed flame retardants at a laboratory scale. Upgraded flame retardant is selected for surface treatment of corrugated board at an industrial scale. The corrugated board packages, that are surface treated with the up-graded flame retardant, are fire proof, possess sufficient physical and mechanical properties, low smoke developed index, and are biodegradable and recyclable.
